COOPWORTH FLEECES
Here are the 2010 Coopworth fleeces!!
Coopworth fleece is a semi-lustrous or lustrous fleece. The Coopworth is a Romney/Border Leicester cross, for those of you who are not familiar with the Coopworth, but may be familiar with those two breeds. Crimp varies from animal to animal, but it has a very defined crimp. The fleeces that I have washed have had a yield of about 75 - 85% (washed weight compared to grease weight). This is a great fiber for beginner spinners, as the staple is long and the fleece is not too slippery. It is a medium softness fiber, not "next to the skin" for most people, but good for things like socks or sweaters not being worn right next to your skin!
We have both white and colored fleeces available. All fleeces have been heavily skirted to remove the worst of the vegetable matter, dung tags, burrs and matted areas. But I am human, so please forgive me if I miss an occasional burr! Please email us with any questions or to reserve a fleece, corycats@tds.net or corycats@hotmail.com. We do not cover our sheep, so there will be some vegetable matter in the fleeces.
We have changed the way we are pricing the fleeces this year. We are no longer pricing per ounce, as there can be small variations in weight depending on the current humidity, both here and where you are. Therefore, we are listing approximate weights and the price of the fleece. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know. Pictures were taken indoors, so the colors are not quite as accurate as I would like. Coopworth fleeces are quite large, so we will split these fleeces in half, if you are interested in half a fleece.
